In a world that can feel like it’s burning, Brighter Days, inspired by Chicago house legend Cajmere, offers more than an escape. It’s an invitation to leave it all at the door and lose yourself in a journey of sound, movement, and celebration on the dancefloor.
This party marks SplitWig’s Odense debut and the launch of their new flagship series: a deep, caring exploration of BiPoc dance music. Expect the pulse of footwork, the grit of breaks, the tension of electro, the roll of jungle, and the soul of house. Going beyond the genres, it’s an attempt at community building, track by track, together on the floor.
About SplitWig:
SplitWig is a US raised, Danish-based BIPOC DJ. Their roots lie in the early sounds of house and techno from Chicago to Detroit: Cajmere, Drexciya, Larry Heard etc. while over time they’ve delved into footwork, juke, electro, breaks, and jungle: Sherellle, Swisha, Nikki Nair, Dj Rashad etc.. As a DJ, their focus has been on creating party series for the people, grounded in the spirit of community and the safe space of house, with a heavy emphasis on spotlighting BIPOC producers ranging from pop-up parties in the US and Copenhagen to residencies on Shared Frequencies Radio and 1020 Radio under previous aliases.
Translation for the curious:
Six non-stop hours of heavy-hitting dance therapy. Bass that’ll reverberate your bones. Beats to keep you moving til you sweat. Grooves and soul leaving you yearning for more.
Goes without saying … but:
Brighter Days is a safe, inclusive space for everyone. Respect isn’t requested, it’s required. Come as you are, leave better than you arrived, and remember others are entitled to the same respect you are.
